This week we introduced a blog that focuses on the Divine Statue Restoration business you can see many examples of the restoration before and after pictures here.
The Museum of Divine Statues is the creation of artist/restorer Lou McClung. Lou restores statuary in his workshop located in the museum. For more information about statue restoration please visit www.divinestatues.com. He always had an interest in religious statuary and began to save and restore pieces of religious art as churches in the area began to close. In 2012, he opened The Museum of Divine Statues in the former St. Hedwig church in the Birdtown area of Lakewood, OH.

All Souls Day Celebration
TheMuseum of Divine Statues held special events in honor of All Souls Day on November 2, 2014. The museum charged half price admission ($4 instead of the regular $8). Our special guest for the day was Father Ronald Wearsch of St. Joseph Parish in Avon, OH. Father Wearsch conducted a Rosary for the visitors to the museum.
In honor of All Souls Day, the museum also offered candles
for sale. We offered a one day votive candle, a seven day perpetual candle,
inscribed with your loved one’s name, or you could also purchase a month of candles in
honor of loved ones and the candles would remain lit from All Souls day
until the first Sunday of Advent.
In addition to these special events, you could see
the changes we have made at the museum including an enchanting display of Nun
Dolls (on loan from the Diocese collection) and our new interactive labels that
you can scan by using your smartphone or tablet (or one of our tablets
available for rental for $3). We also have touchscreen kiosks that allow you to
search the collection and discover more photos and read about the history of the
beautiful statuary and the church it came from.
Even if you missed our All Souls celebration for this year, we are always open Sunday from 12:00 - 4:00 pm and very soon we will be decorating for the holiday season.
